Our Story

Keeping Our Girls Safe is a nonprofit organization based in Fulton County Ohio, dedicated to providing free self-defense classes to the communities within and surrounding Northwest Ohio. Established in 2016, the organization was founded in memory of Sierah Joughin who was tragically abducted and murdered at the age of 20 riding her bike home from visiting her longtime boyfriend. The nonprofit is run by three women (and an amazing group of volunteers!) and features police officers as instructors, emphasizing a unique commitment to safety and empowerment. Our website is a great place for you to learn more about our organization, our mission, and the impact we are making in the community. Keeping Our Girls Safe was founded out of tragedy. We chose to take that grief and honor Sierah's legacy while creating a safe, stronger community.
